The Straits Times published this report about the solar industry crisis in Germany - 500 jobs will be cut and more will be put on part -time basis because the it could not longer hold out against the stiff competition from Asia in terms of price per Watt of silicon photovoltaics.

Sometimes when I think about it, I don't understand how plastics - especially the non-recyclable ones can come to the consumer at a price so cheap that the entire modern society is almost entirely dependent on it.
